Corporations, Organizations, and Civic Groups:

Books for Kids touches so many lives, reaches so many children who have no voice and little access to the very things they need to be successful later in life. You can help us to give the gift of early childhood literacy skills to the children who need us the most.

Low literacy levels are closely linked to poverty, welfare and unemployment. Over one million children drop out of school each year costing our nation over 240 billion dollars over their lifetime in lost earnings, foregone tax revenues and expenditures for social services. Books for Kids seeks to eradicate the disparity in opportunities for all children.

Books for Kids forms partnerships with companies, civic groups and organizations who wish to make a commitment to assisting those in need in the communities where they work and live. We offer innovative volunteering opportunities in the New York Metro area and nationally. You can make a tangible difference in our communities that create social awareness and responsibility regardless of position, status or seniority within your particular firm or group. With as little as one day off your organization can volunteer in team-based projects coordinated by Books for Kids.

We find people demonstrate the same qualities they bring to their professional work: excellence, commitment, innovation, energy, new ideas, and an appreciation of both the big picture and the importance of the individual. Many of our volunteers are so engaged and rewarded by the outcome of the project, they often return on their own time throughout the year.

Our plan is very simple. Each library can be updated and refurbished for the nominal amount of two thousand dollars. We replace old furniture, provide new rugs, room accessories and of course brand new books. Many companies choose to do multiples of locations to serve the many neighborhoods and areas their own employees live and work in. We then ask your employees to join us for one day to help us create an instant make over in a location close to work or home. We also have them read a story to the children, answer questions about their work and themselves. At the end of the day your people have a sense of pride and our children know that your company or organization cared enough to make a difference.

Please do call Books for Kids and join us in our community partnership initiative.
