A new beginning!

 

 

The ceremonial cutting of the ribbon.

 

 

Each child at the center received a book to take home and cherish (shown left, on table).

Books for Kids and Con Edison formed a strategic partnership to make this contribution to the community, symbolized by the plaque.

Among the many prominent community leaders in attendance was Assemblyman Ken Temperton.

Two members of the John Edward Bruce Board of Directors MCed the opening.

Borough President of Brooklyn, Marty Markowitz, proclaimed that January 26th, 2006 would be commemorated in honor of Books for Kids, Con Edison, and the new library at the John Edward Bruce Day Care Center II.

Ms. Denise Adams accepts the plaque on behalf of the John Edward Bruce Day Care Center II.

The staff of the day care center offered a colorful poster in thanks to Books for Kids and Con Edison for their library.

Denise Glaudé, Program Coordinator at Books for Kids, was honored by John Edward Bruce Day Care Center II for her hard work and her dedication to children's literacy.

The opening ceremony ended with a reading by Peggy West-Barton, Director of America Counts*America Reads at the Pratt Institute.
