Visit Arthur and friends at www.pbskids.org, which is also the home of the Reading Rainbow

 
Billy Bear's Playground ..lots of matching and guessing games, mazes, and stories which require input from you to complete the ending. All pages emphasize oral and visual development.
The Knowledge Adventure features a Kids Area with grade appropriate activities such as:- connect the dots, coloring pages, puzzles, an encyclopedia, and a dinosaur center with various projects.
Schoolmenu.com features nutritional information and fun-food games, mazes and puzzles.

Microsoft Internet Gaming Zone Has card, board and games that you buy in the store, that are multiplayer-compatible. They require that you download zone software, but the site is great for meeting other gamers and competing in many games.
Yahoo! Games Like the Zone (above), great for meeting other gamers, but you don't need to download anything. It has many card and board games available.

Kids' Clubhouse The Kids' Clubhouse at Houghton-Mifflin has many activities, including an online reading discussion group called The Reading Dimension.

The Hewlett Packard Digital Book Club
The Hewlett Packard Digital Book Club is designed to encourage young people ages 8-18 to read and write. Features links to reading and writing sites; classic books; templates to create bookmarks and bookplates; literature lists, writing contests and tips.
On-Lion for Kids New York Public Library's On-Lion for Kids features Arts and Games, Authors Books and Characters, Events for Children and a Teen Link. Look for The Adventures of the Real Winnie the Pooh, who lives with his friends in the Central Childrens' Room at the NYPL's Donnell Library Center.
